Drawing Submission for 2016 Joint Mathematics Meeting in Seattle, Washington

The Schrodingers' Cats; mixed-media on paper, 15" x 20"

The 2016 Joint Mathematics Meeting will have its annual conference 6 - 9 January in Seattle, Washington.  Attracting thousands of mathematicians from around the world, it is the largest of its kind.

Along with various speakers, the conference hosts an Art exhibit which subject reflects the interests of the conference.  The judges accepted my submission concerning Erwin Schrodinger's parable about Quantum Mechanics.

Schrodinger’s wave equation prompted him to write a parable about the cat in a box with a radioactive decay triggered device. He commented that the cat was in a quantum state until one opened the box; i.e., neither alive nor dead. According to the Many-Worlds theory, however, when Schrodinger opens the box the world splits in two; in one world the cat is alive but in another world the cat is dead.

No cats were harmed in the production of this drawing.
