65th Finger Lakes Exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery
The Memorial Art Gallery of
Rochester, NY is holding its 65th Finger Lakes
biennial regional exhibition this summer.
Michael Rooks of Atlanta’s High
Museum was the judge for
this year’s show and chose one of my entries, Suicide Corners, NY.
As Buffalo’s
Albright-Knox Art
Gallery is no longer offering a
regional art presentation, the Finger Lakes biennial remains the only museum venue for a local art show in Western NY.
An additional highlight for me was seeing my painting and drawing instructor from my University of Buffalo days, Professor Emeritus Sheldon Berlyn, who also had a painting in the exhibit.

The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center is hosting its 10th Summer Art exhibit, Beyond the Barrel, June 21 to August 24. Set in the grand old Niagara Falls High School, the NACC has a variety of artist studios as well as three exhibition galleries.
In this show, I entered two drawings and the one here engages three themes of Niagara Falls: tightrope walking, electricity, and the maid of the mist.

Drawings of Another Dimension, Solo Show at GCC Albion Campus
The Genesee-Orleans Regional Art Council is sponsoring my solo show at the Genesee Community College Albion campus from January to February. The art exhibit is a culmination of the past near-three years of drawing on paper. Generally, most of these are pencil on paper though many include charcoal and color pencil too. Tentatively, a 30 January 5 pm reception with GCC art students is on the schedule as I will present a discussion in response to 20 questions about the art.

Entry for the 2014 Joint Mathematics Meeting Art Exhibit in Baltimore, Maryland
| Time; mixed-media on paper, 20" x 15" |
The JMM 2014 panel of jurors have selected this drawing for the show. My entry for the 2014 Joint Mathematics Meeting is called Time. Seashell
Geometry may suggest an equation for Einstein/Lorentz Space-Time
(Ilert, 1981), but for the snapping turtle and the cottontail rabbit in
my region the Aesopic struggle with time in their race is mathematically
concrete space.
The Joint Mathematics Meeting is the largest of its kind in the world, comprising two major academic organizations, The Mathematical Association of America and the American Mathematical Society. Sessions by the Association of Symbolic Logic, Association for Women in Mathematics, among other groups, are also on schedule.
